PRPS AND SELF SUSTAINABILITY

Home / Prps And Self-Sustainability

PRPS, all through its years of existence, has thrived on a self-sustainable model. While donations from corporate houses and individuals have been of immense help in shaping our organization, PRPS has institutionalized mechanisms to self-generate funds. Other than self-generation of funds, the entrepreneurial ventures of PRPS provide the much-needed employment generation for persons with disability.

Some of the ventures initiated and successfully operated under the banner of PRPS are as follows –

LONG LIFE

Long-Life is a retail chain of pharmacies that haS been operational since 2000. PRPS operates seven pharmacy outlets and aims to expand the network.

Long Life also has a wholesale medicine wing that helps improve the surplus of the chain, the benefits of which are passed to the end-users and persons with disability.

The pharmacies are interlinked with each other and the wholesale wing by a robust IT network, thereby enabling a seamless supply chain mechanism.

The pharmacies together employ around 24 persons with disability. Besides retailing medicines, the pharmacies also deliver medication to homes in the nearby geographies. They also collect diagnostic samples from homes and organize medical camps for elderly citizens living nearby.

ANNE SULLIVAN CLINIC

PRPS has established a poly-clinic that offers consultation, lab diagnostic services, and other healthcare services in the area near its establishment.

Some of the locally reputed physicians are attached to the clinic. The generated funds from the clinic are used to provide subsidized services to persons with disability and economically weaker sections of society.

PROPOSED FUTURE INITIATIVES

PRPS has proposed establishing an old-age home and halfway home for mentally ill persons (especially children) in West Bengal. The old age and halfway home will be interlinked. Healthy elderly citizens living in the proposed old age home can volunteer to care for mentally ill children. On commissioning, this will be a unique initiative in the state of West Bengal.

Also, PRPS is envisioning to venture into the healthcare provider segment by establishing a hospital. On an affordable care model, the hospital will offer services to all. The hospital is proposed to have a separate wing for providing free services to persons with disability.

PRPS has already procured land for the above-said projects. Also, PRPS has identified partner firms that will bring the necessary industry experience to operate the above projects.
