What?
PRPS’s Early Detection, Prevention, and Identification campaigns are designed to identify individuals with a disability and help them obtain the benefits due to them, such as identity cards and disability certificates. We also help them avail the facilities that they may gain through those certificates.
Why?
To ensure inclusion, rehabilitation and economic independence.
How?
PRPS undertakes the task through various means such as:
- Helping disabled persons connect with mainstream society.
- Organizing medical and social camps.
- Organizing forums for persons with disability in colleges.
- Networking with government and non-government organizations.
- Organizing screening camps in association with institutes of national importance such as the National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities and the National Institute for Orthopedically Handicapped.
- Proposals to establish early detection centers with interested individuals and organizations.

Result
Through our activities , we generate a large quantum of data on disability and disability-related interventions.
We also collaborate with credible organizations in conducting research, the outcomes of which are used for framing better policies and interventions.
Our campaigns have touched the lives of around 2 lakh individuals with different types of disabilities.
EARLY DETECTION, PREVENTION, IDENTIFICATION AND RESEARCH
1990
We persuaded the government to conduct camps in all blocks in the State and issue disability certificates and identity cards through a single window system. PRPS has been working closely with the government of West Bengal in identifying persons with disability and has been helping them obtain the necessary documents. Since 1993 till early 2000s, PRPS has helped more than one lakh persons with disability to obtain their certificates
1993
-2019
Sankara Nethralaya, Kolkata was commissioned in association with PRPS. Every day over 1000 patients from different districts, states and countries visit the hospital to get their eye related ailments cured. PRPS has continuously organized blindness prevention and early detection camps and have helped thousands of patients get free / subsidized treatment.
1995
PRPS organized a thalassemia screening camp in Burdwan district of West Bengal. Around 50 high risk cases were identified.
